Radon Detectors Ireland

What is Radon?

Radon is a radioactive gas that is colourless, odourless and tasteless.
Radon kills 200 people each year in Ireland.

Where does it come from?

Radon is made by the natural (radioactive) breakdown of uranium in soil, rock and water and gets into the air you breathe. Buildings suck radon from the soil into our living and working spaces. Because it has no odour, colour or taste, it cannot be detected by humans.

Who is at risk from Radon?

All people and pets are at risk. No one is immune and it may be a problem in your
home. Approximately two thirds of our radiation exposure comes from radon gas in the home and the workplace.

What can Radon do to me?

When you breathe air containing radon, you increase your chances of getting lung
cancer, only smoking causes more lung cancer deaths. Radon is the biggest source of radiation in Ireland.

How do I check for Radon?

Contact CO Detector and purchase one of our Radon testing kits.
Place one detector in the main living area and the second detector in the main
bedroom.
After 3 months you post the kit back to us for analysis in a Radon laboratory,
your results are then returned back to you along with recommendations if above average levels of Radon have been recorded.

Co detector are in full compliance with iso 17025 as can be seen on the R.P.I.I. website www.rpii.ie
